FCO Performs THE BIRDS LIVE!
On Saturday, February 27, 2016 FCO held an incredibly unique Hollywood-Style-Movie-Premiere event in which FCO performed a World Premier of an Original Score by a local artist – Andrew David Perkins – along to a showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds”.
The Gala was held at the Fenton Community & Cultural Center. Guests enjoyed a cocktail party, special photo opportunities, viewing an Art Display from area artists and participating in a Silent Auction. The show began at 8PM. Following the show, FCO held a 15-minute ‘talk-back’ with the composer in which he explained and demonstrated the composition processes and musical themes throughout the score. Thank you for supporting the Fenton Community Orchestra and this exceptionally unique event! We are so very thankful to all who came out to support the orchestra! Are you curious how the composer wrote the new score? There was no music written for the film because it was decided it would be creepier without it (and it is EXCEPTIONALLY creepy!). Fenton Community Orchestra Music Director Andrew Perkins decided to test that theory and see if adding music would make it even better…so he wrote a score! Proceeds from this event support the Fenton Community Orchestra.
The FCO Red Carpet Gala was made possible by our Premiere Sponsors – Tanglewood Home Care, Gerych’s, and the Fenton Community & Cultural Center, as well as the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Composer – Andrew David Perkins. Many other businesses and individuals are contributed as well to make this a spectacular event for our community! THANK YOU! |
